Reverend Edwin Perry
Rev. Edward B. Perry is a Christian Minister who was licensed in 1991 by the late great Rev. Manson B. Johnson, Holman Street Baptist Church, Houston, Texas where he served as Associate Minister, Sunday School Teacher, and Young Adult Choir Member.
He was ordained in 2001 by the Rev Ricky L. Campbell, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Clute, Texas, where he also served as Youth Minister. He served under watch-care and as Associate Minister of the St. Luke Baptist Church, Laurelton(Queens) New York under the Rev. Dr. Roy L. Gilmore, Sr , and served as Senior Pastor of the Bethsalem Baptist Church, Springfield Gardens (Queens) New York, 2002 to 2015, where he also served as a Mentor for the New York Metropolitan Baptist Association’s Eagles Initiative to Rikers Island Prison.
Following his job transfer from New York to Houston he served as a member of the Pastoral Care Team of New Hope Church, Manvel, Texas from 2016 to 2019 and as Associate Minister, Director of Sunday School, member of the Men of Hope Choir and member of the Executive Ministry Support Team, Holman Street Baptist Church, Houston Texas from 2019 to 2025 under the leadership of the late great Rev. Manson B. Johnson and the Rev. Murray G. Martin respectively.
He recently became the senior pastor at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Clute, Texas in July 2025.
Perry is a published Gospel Songwriter and a Gospel Music Recording Artist registered with BMI. He is also a Sargent First Class (US Army, Retired) with more than 20 years of honorable service, and has served as Lay Minister for Army Chapels overseas and stateside during his Military career.
Perry has worked for the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Administration for more than 17 years, responsible for assisting in the promotion and improvement of access to VA benefits and services by Minority Veterans as the Houston Regional Office Minority Veterans Program Coordinator. He has also represented the Houston Regional office as a member of the Region 6 Network of the White House Initiative on Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders. Perry serves as the local liaison for the Washington D.C. Center for Faith which strives to partner with the Faith Based Community in engaging Veterans, Family Members and Survivors. He earned a certification as ELITE Master Instructor for the Veterans Benefits Administration and was named Minority Veterans Program Coordinator of the quarter for the New York Regional Office.
He is a 2023 Federal Executive Board Emerging Leaders Program Graduate and was nominated for the 2024 Houston Federal Executive Board, HFEB, Customer Service Award. Perry is a CAP of Greater Pearland Community Service Award Winner, and a Pearland MLKCC Drum Major for Justice Award recipient 2024.
Perry is a graduate Angleton High School, Angleton, Texas. He is an alumnus of the University of Houston’s Cougar Marching Band and Good News Gospel Choir. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Nyack College/Alliance Theological Seminary, Nyack, New York, and a Master of Public Administration from Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas. He has completed graduate coursework in Organizational Leadership from the Nyack College School of Business Leadership, New York, and certification coursework in Christian Family Counseling with the National Association of Christian Counselors.
Perry also serves in various leadership roles in the community, as President of the Pearland Martin Luther King Celebration Committee, a lifetime member of the NAACP and serves as committee member on the National NAACP Armed Services and Veteran Affairs Committee as well as Chair of the Brazoria County NAACP Armed Services and Veteran Affairs Committee, He is an Advisory Committee Member for the Texas Historical Commission’s Levi Jordan Plantation Historic Site, Board Member of Turning Heart Ministries, Inc., Houston, Texas and Board Member of Kemetyu Global Economic Development Corporation, Accra, Ghana, West Africa.
Perry has served as former Council Member Place 4 for the City of Manvel, Member of the City of Manvel Charter Review Commission as well as former board member for the Manvel Economic Development Corporation. He is a member of Blacks In Government (BIG), The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) and the Texas Association of Black City Council Members (TABCCM).
Perry is a native of Goliad, Texas, and lives in Manvel, Texas with his wife of 23 years, Rana Robinson- Perry, and their twin sons, Edward II and Elijah.
